Dr. Brandi Howard
Biography
Dr. Brandi Howard is excited to begin another school year at Ramstein Elementary School as Assistant Principal. She looks forward to continuously building relationships with educators and military connected families as well as supporting teachers through collaboration, mentoring, and professional learning.
Dr. Howard earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree from Auburn University in Administration of Supervision and Curriculum. Her research interests are collaboration and school building design. Also, she has graduate certification in Program Evaluation from Auburn University. Additionally, Dr. Howard earned her Master’s and Educational Specialist degrees in Elementary Education and Instructional Leadership certification from the University of West Alabama. She is an alumnus of Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University and earned an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education.
Dr. Howard has been an educator for twelve years. She joined DoDEA in 2015 as a kindergarten teacher in Fort Benning, Georgia. She has taught grades kindergarten through third, served as Focused Collaboration Chairperson and member, Continuous School Improvement team member, K-5 Reading Proficiency Facilitation Team member, and mentor teacher for student teachers. She also received professional learning in Project Based Learning from the Buck Institute and has experience implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) with students. Prior to joining DoDEA, Dr. Howard worked as a kindergarten educator at an all-kindergarten school in Enterprise, Alabama. She has implemented 21st century skills into instruction, co-taught with colleagues, and collaborated with educators to analyze data, differentiate instruction, and implement research-based strategies to support student learning.
From 2017 to 2021, Dr. Howard served as a Resource Teacher and Curriculum Developer for the United States Army Aeromedical Research Laboratory (USAARL) Gains in Education of Mathematics and Science (GEMS) Program at Fort Rucker, Alabama. GEMS engages rising fourth through eleventh grade students in hands-on, inquiry‐based experiments and nurtures students’ interest in STEM career fields. USAARL’s GEMS program aims to reach students who are from Southeast Alabama and who are historically underrepresented in STEM.
Dr. Howard enjoys spending time with family and friends, cheering on the New Orleans Saints, traveling, listening to music, and board games. She is looking forward to continuing the partnership with educators and the community of Ramstein to fulfill the mission of DoDEA which is to Educate, Engage, and Empower military-connected students to succeed in a dynamic world.
