Mock Election at Ramstein Elementary:
A Lesson in Citizenship
Ramstein Elementary School held its much-anticipated Mock Election on Nov. 5, 2024, allowing Sure Start through second-grade students to participate in selecting the President of the Superheroes. This event, a cherished school tradition, gives students an engaging way to experience the voting process and learn about democracy.
The event began with a presentation of the colors by the Ramstein High School JROTC, setting a respectful tone for the assembly. Second-grade students then led the school in singing the Star-Spangled Banner, the Pledge of Allegiance and other patriotic songs, creating a sense of unity and pride among students and staff.
After all votes were counted, Wonder Woman emerged as the 2024 President of the Superheroes, much to the excitement of her young supporters.
We were honored to welcome distinguished guests, including Dr. D'Angelo, DoDEA Europe Central District Superintendent; Dr. Wanda Bradley and Mr. Joseph Lovett, DoDEA Europe Central Community Superintendents; and our school liaison officer, Ms. Jessica Comfort. Their presence added to the significance of the event, showing students the importance of civic responsibility and community leadership.
