Ramstein Elementary School honors Dr. Billie Dysinger’s legacy with Annual Literacy Night

Ramstein Elementary School continued its tradition of celebrating literacy and honoring the legacy of Dr. Billie Dysinger with its annual Dr. D’s Literacy Night, an event dedicated to fostering a love of reading among students and families.
Dr. Dysinger, a beloved former teacher, was passionate about encouraging children to embrace the joy of books. This year’s Literacy Night, held as part of the school’s Read Across America Week activities, brought together students, parents, and staff for an evening of engaging literacy-based activities.
Families participated in interactive reading games, listened to captivating read-alouds, and enjoyed a festive atmosphere complete with pizza and cookies. Throughout Read Across America Week, students also took part in themed dress-up days, welcomed guest readers, and attended popcorn parties — all designed to promote literacy and a lifelong love of reading.
The event was made possible through the efforts of dedicated Ramstein Elementary staff and the support of the school’s Parent Teacher Association. Volunteers from the USO and Ramstein High School’s Junior ROTC program also contributed their time to ensure the night’s success.
Dr. D’s Literacy Night serves as a lasting tribute to Dysinger’s passion for literacy, reinforcing the impact of reading on students and the school community. The event continues to inspire young readers while honoring a teacher’s enduring influence.
